LOTS OF FUN AT THE PARK! |
|
As the BAA Fall Ball season has winded down, some of you may have put your bat bags up for the winter. Others
may still pull out their bats and gloves for a little backyard
baseball, mini-baseball bat baseball, tennis ball baseball or wiffle
ball. Some of you may have watched yet another Pirate-less World Series, or maybe played a little ball on the Wii or X-Box. All examples of true fans of the game! And
as gratifying as it is to see the boys and girls of Bridgeville learn
and further develop their ball playing skills throughout the season,
the reason we volunteer so much time to the BAA is our kids’ love of
the game, which shows through in so many of their activities in the
“off-season”. Teamwork. Our children learn the importance of working together to learn and grow as players, strive to win games, and have fun doing it! One player can’t make a successful ball program, but if we all work together, we can continue to provide outstanding experiences for our kids. Fall is a great time to look back on the past season and evaluate what went well, and what could be improved upon. I would like to ask each of you to take some time this Fall to ask yourself how you can be a part of the BAA team. There
are so many “positions” to be filled, from helping with the Team &
Sign sponsorship fundraising to field work in the early spring to the
concession stand committee. Maybe you’d
like to help with the “Annual Bingo Event” coming up in March, the
clinics in February and March or maybe you’re interested in coaching or
managing a team next year. To
know what’s going on in the BAA or get a better idea of how you can
help, come to our next “team” meeting—the BAA General Session Meeting
on the third Thursday of each month at 8:00 at the Bridgeville Borough Building (next to the police station). Step up to the plate and help the BAA get ready for another successful season! No
matter what goals the Board sets, we cannot reach them without your
help and we do appreciate all of the hours you volunteer for the
children of Bridgeville. So enjoy the few weeks before it gets too cold and go out with your kids, bats, balls and gloves and…Play Ball! DID YOU KNOW? HOW DO WE KEEP THE
COST
DOWN?
Over the last six years, the Board has kept very detailed records and can now estimate how much the actual cost per player is to play in the association. Here is the break down per player in the 2010 season; T-Ball came to approximately $90.15 PLUS trophies & BAA Sweatshirt, 7-12 year olds came to approximately $107.59 PLUS BAA Sweatshirt & umpire fees. Seeing this makes you appreciate how important our fundraisers and donations from our dedicated sponsors are to the BAA. Please review our Sponsors Wall of Fame on page 6 & 7. Please patronize these businesses and thank them for supporting our children. The following will give you an idea of some of the expenses broken down PER PLAYER: T-Ball Shirts, pants & hats $ 24.20 Umpires by age bracket per player / team Baseball Shirts, Pants, socks & hats $ 41.65 8&U Boys $ 10.00 per player Softball Shirts, Shorts, socks & hats $ 42.85 10&U Boys $ 18.18 per player Clinics $ 14.32 12&U Boys $ 21.82 per player Postage & Printing $ 8.95 14&U Boys $ 33.00 per player Equipment $ 10.95 8&U Girls $ 8.57 per player Field Materials $ 21.81 10&U Girls $ 23.38 per player Insurance $ 3.38 12&U Girls $ 27.64 per player Miscellaneous $ 6.53 T-Ball Trophies $ 7.95 BAA Sweatshirts $13.50 |
