Security Clearance Information

If you currently do not have up to date clearances, listed below are the clearances the BAA requires.

PA Criminal Record Check

Cost: Free if you are a volunteer.
Expected Wait Time: Should be received within two weeks
Manner Received: You will receive your results online with a paper copy

PA Child Abuse History Clearance

Cost: Free if you are a volunteer.
Expected Wait Time: Should be received within two weeks
Manner Received: Online with paper copy

PA Resident Affidavit or FBI Check

You do NOT need the FBI Clearance if you meet the following TWO criteria:

  1. You have been a resident of Pennsylvania for the ENTIRETY of the past 10 years AND
  2. You have NEVER been convicted of a Disqualifying Offense

Otherwise You Need to Complete the FBI Check

Cost: $27.00
Payable With: Online with credit card, money order or cashier’s check

Expected Wait Time: Should be received within two weeks

Manner Received: Mailed to your home / Electronically via Email

Other Important Information:

  1. The fingerprint background check is a multiple-step process.
  2. The applicant must register prior to going to the fingerprint site:

FBI clearance directions for receiving the clearance electronically:

In order to receive your results electronically, during the registration process you will be asked for your email address and to create a security question and answer.  You must remember this information to access your results!

After your fingerprints are taken, you will receive an email. You can only access your email results one time!  DO NOT access your email results UNTIL you are able to download, save and print them.  Click on the link in the email and enter your security question and answer. Three unsuccessful attempts to answer your security question will lock you out, and your clearance will be transmitted by US Mail only
